1. Who We Are and This Policy’s Scope
Obsidian Sigil is operated by Austin Moates (“Obsidian Sigil,” “we,” “us,” or “our”). This policy applies to the Obsidian Sigil mobile application, its beta releases, and services that link to this policy (collectively, the “Service”).
By using the Service, you acknowledge the practices described here. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.
2. Information We Collect
Account and contact information
When you register or sign in, we collect information such as your email address and authentication information. Passwords are handled by our authentication provider and are not available to us in readable form. We may also collect information you send when requesting support or providing beta feedback.
Profile and preference information
You may provide a display name, username, biography, profile image or avatar choices, time zone, unit preferences, onboarding responses, privacy settings, and other profile details.
Fitness, nutrition, and progress information
The Service stores information you choose to enter, including workout programs, exercises, sets, repetitions, weight lifted, cardio activity, scheduled and completed workouts, meals, food entries, nutrition goals, water intake, body weight, strength results, body measurements, progress goals, and related notes. If a feature allows you to upload progress or profile photos, we collect the images you choose to upload. We do not use facial recognition to identify you.
Social and Guild information
If you use social or Guild features, we collect the content and activity needed to provide them. This may include friend and follow relationships, blocks, Guild membership and invitations, join requests, posts, comments, reactions, shared media, and the visibility choices applied to that content.
App activity and progression
We process information about your use of in-app features, including experience points, levels, streaks, achievements, challenges, beta-access status, consent acknowledgments, and records necessary to keep your account and activity synchronized.
Device, diagnostic, and security information
We and our service providers may process limited technical information necessary to deliver, update, secure, and troubleshoot the Service. Depending on how you access the Service, this may include device type, operating-system and app version, IP address, authentication and security logs, update status, randomized device tokens, crash information, and diagnostic or performance data.
3. How We Use Information
We use information to:
- Create, authenticate, maintain, and support your account.
- Save and synchronize the fitness, nutrition, progress, social, and Guild information you choose to enter.
- Calculate and display workouts, nutrition totals, progress trends, experience points, levels, achievements, and streaks.
- Apply your time-zone, unit, notification, profile, and privacy preferences.
- Display content to other users when you choose to share it or participate in social or Guild features.
- Provide beta access, app updates, customer support, and responses to feedback.
- Protect the Service and its users, prevent abuse, investigate security incidents, and enforce our rules.
- Debug, maintain, and improve the reliability and functionality of the Service.
- Comply with legal obligations and protect legal rights.
4. Fitness and Health Information
Obsidian Sigil is a fitness tracking and accountability tool. It is not a medical device and does not provide medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment. Consult a qualified healthcare professional before making decisions that could affect your health.
We do not sell fitness or health information, provide it to data brokers, or use it for targeted advertising. The current version of the Service does not connect to Apple Health or HealthKit. If that changes, we will provide any additional notices and permissions required before accessing that information.
6. Data Retention and Deletion
We generally retain account information and user-created records while your account is active or as needed to provide the Service. We may retain limited records for longer when reasonably necessary for security, fraud prevention, dispute resolution, legal compliance, enforcing agreements, or maintaining backup integrity. Backup copies and security logs may remain for a limited period before being overwritten or deleted.
You may delete certain content using available in-app controls. You may initiate deletion of your entire account and associated personal data from Profile > Account controls > Request account deletion. Account deletion is normally completed within seven days, and a pending request may be cancelled from the same screen before processing begins. To request access to, correction of, or export of your personal information, or for help with a deletion request, email austin@obsidiansigil.com from the address associated with your account. We may ask you to verify your identity before completing other privacy requests. We process requests as required by applicable law, subject to legitimate security and legal-retention needs.
If you withdraw consent for processing necessary to operate the Service, some or all features may no longer be available to you. You may stop future collection by discontinuing use and deleting the app, but deleting the app from your device does not by itself delete your account or records stored by the Service.
7. Security
We use reasonable administrative and technical safeguards designed to protect information, including access controls and service-provider security features. No method of internet transmission or electronic storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security. Keep your sign-in information confidential and contact us if you believe your account has been compromised.
8. Your Choices and Privacy Rights
You can edit certain profile details and control the visibility of supported social and Guild content through the Service. Depending on where you live, you may also have legal rights to request access, correction, deletion, restriction, objection, or portability regarding personal information, and to appeal or complain to a privacy authority. To exercise a request, contact us using the email below. We will not discriminate against you for exercising an applicable privacy right.
9. Children’s Privacy
The Service is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided personal information to us, contact us so we can investigate and take appropriate action.
10. International Data Transfers
Obsidian Sigil and its service providers may process and store information in the United States and other countries. Those countries may have privacy laws different from those where you live. Where required, we use appropriate safeguards for international transfers.
11. Third-Party Services
The Service may link to third-party websites or services. Their privacy practices are governed by their own policies, not this policy. Apple also independently processes information associated with the App Store and TestFlight under Apple’s policies.
12. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy as the Service changes or as required by law. We will post the revised policy and update the effective date. When legally required, we will provide additional notice or request consent before a material change takes effect.
